How can we be intentional in the middle of it all? We can living purposefully in seasons of change!

Hi Changemakers!

This coming week might feel significant for you if you are an American. It is a big week for me, too—today is my three year anniversary since my life fell apart (no thanks lupus). Then there are the kids’ Halloween/Harvest celebrations, and following that, a rare personal rest/refill trip for me. And of course, right smack in the middle of it all are the U.S. elections.

But remember, we’ve been preparing for this very season!

In case you forgot this edition of “ The Table” was all about how to engage with the media sustainably. Then, last month (here) was about how to still make a difference when there are so many confusing issues being talked about.

And so, whether we’re busy with work, family, school, activities, health, advocacy, and participating in whatever ways you love to make a difference, autumn is flying by. Then right around the corner will be a winter, with its holidays, expectations, travel, and then after that, a new government.

Whew!

When in all this will we have a chance to breathe?

This is why in this edition of the Table, I want to invite you into a more sustainable practice, both in your personal life and in your family life. This is how we become more fullfilled, peaceful, and content changemakers.

Let’s not just react to change. Let’s be intentional and prepared to face it. That being said, here are some ways you can be intentional in the middle of it all.

As always, here is a list of what I’m covering.

Go to what might help you below:

1.) The launch of two books that help you be intentional!

2.) October Giveaway

3.) Why we still vote

4.) Practicing rest – No Hustle November

5.) October/November advocacy ideas

#1. The Launch of Two Books I Wrote For You!

In case you missed it, this summer I officially published the two books I wrote for my fellow changemakers! Both of these books were designed with real life and sustainability in mind. They are coaches in intentionality.

I can talk all day long about the story behind these books, but I don’t want to take up all the space here about them. Over the next six months you’ll be hearing more about them, but check them out below!

#2. October Giveaway

Each month during my book launch I will be doing a giveaway!

How do you win? It is easy! You just choose to do one thing from the book launch list here. Getting these books to empower the changemakers who need them is something I greatly value. It is why I am doing this series of giveaways—to say thank you!

I am going to choose the winner for October’s giveaway on Friday, so be sure to enter here! (As I haven’t shared about it much, either, your odds of winning are high.)

October giveaway: a coaster-tile from San Diego, a candle from the social enterprise, Light Shine Candles, artisan-made fair trade bags, and three books on changemaking (this month, these books are faith-based)

#3. Why We Still Vote

Have you ever felt like voting was pointless? If so, you aren’t the only one. I regularly feel tension about voting and the options on my ballot. But there are reasons why I keep showing up to the polls. If you need a little pep-talk read this short post:

FIVE REASONS TO KEEP VOTING (EVEN WHEN YOU LOSE)

Voting matters

#4. Practicing Rest – No Hustle November

Remember what I was talking about at the beginning of this October edition, about needing time to breathe? There is a solution for this and believe it or not, it involves breathing. Actually, it is even more intentional than that.

No Hustle November is simple and its goal is two-fold. In it we practice:

  1. Intentionally choosing not to hustle when the pressure to hustle builds
  2. Showing others how you are choosing to not hustle, as an example and inspiration to them to do the same

Are you ready to learn more? Read the story and more details here. You are invited to join me this year for No Hustle November! (Follow me on social media as I talk about this all month.)

#5. October/November Advocacy Opportunities

We might be on the last week of October, but that doesn’t mean we’ve missed out on learning from and connecting with its advocacy days and awareness causes!

Check out the wide resources and communities already focusing on these areas of social change this month. This is an easier way for us to be less overwhelmed while engaging in meaningful social action.

Remember: these are shared at the beginning of each month. As November is around the corner, be sure to check these links again on Saturday to see what you can connect with in November!

What helps you be intentional in this busy season before changes? Let us know about them in the comments!

As always, you’re invited to schedule a coaching/consulting session with me. Make a plan for how you can best be intentional in your life in this season and be the changemaker you’re born to be!
